The big two comic book publishers come together to make what was billed as the greatest crossover in the history of superhero comics. They put their best writers and artists on the project, and had readers vote on the outcomes of matchups long asked for by fans: Silver Surfer vs. Green Lantern, Lobo vs. Wolverine, and Batman vs. Captain America, to name a few. What the reader gets instead is a deeply disappointing, sometimes disturbingly out-of-touch comic book. If only it hadn’t been written in the 90’s, maybe it could have had a shot at being more than a steaming pile. For more information, visit www.AtomicPoweredSuperCast.com!
We jump forward about 50 years from last week by reading the “Ultimate Galactus Trilogy,” a tome of a story arc spanning three miniseries and a one-shot. It’s a huge tale with a long, savory buildup. But do we like these Ultimates or do we want our old helmet-head back? For more information on past or upcoming episodes, visit www.AtomicPoweredSuperCast.com!
We wrap up our Thorcules Arc with the titular trade, “The Mighty Thorcules,” a collection of hilarious issues from the comic The Incredible Hercules, by Greg Pak, Fred Van Lente, Reilly Brown, and Rodney Buchemi. It’s a lot of creators, but it’s a lot of worth it as well. Also, you try and pronounce “Alflyse of Svartalfheim.” For more info about upcoming or previous episodes, check out the show schedule on our website, www.AtomicPoweredSuperCast.com.
