We take some time too look back on the past year of our show: the best comics we’ve read and the worst, along with what we kept reading and the comic moments that still stick in our mind. We’ll be back with our regular programming next week when we read “Creator-Owned Heroes.” For more info on past and future shows, visit www.AtomicPoweredSuperCast.com!
This week read “Abe Sapien: The Devil Does Not Jest & Other Stories,” a collection of miniseries about the aquatic member of BPRD. We discuss subtle character, framed narrative, and give a good colorist his due. For more information on past or future shows, visit www.AtomicPoweredSuperCast.com!
After thoroughly enjoying Hellboy in our “Intro to Indie” arc, we decided to revisit the Mignolaverse with a B.P.R.D. series. We kick things off with “BPRD: Plague of Frogs” by Mike Mignola and Guy Davis. We drool over how well Mignola writes “show don’t tell” and just how great Guy Davis’ surprisingly colorful art works in this supernatural-paranormal-noir-horror world. It turns that all that hype you hear about how BPRD comics are might just be true after all. For more information on past or future shows, visit www.AtomicPoweredSuperCast.com!
