Our DC Let Down arc starts off with the big daddy of controversial comics: “Identity Crisis.” Written by Brad Meltzer with art by Rags Morales and Michael Bair, this comic kicks you until you fall to the ground crying, then kicks you some more. We talk about the depressing, violent, sexualized themes in this comic along with their repercussions on the super hero genre. As Annihilation comes to an end, we weigh in on the fates of Galactus, Nova, Silver Surfer, and more. Did Cammi ever matter at all? How badass is Thanos? Does the Negative Zone just suck and Annihilus is a giant baby, or is there a bigger picture? Does Ronan the Letdown become Ronan the Redeemed? All these questions and more get answered in this week’s episode of APSC. For more information on past or future shows, visit www.AtomicPoweredSuperCast.com!
The Annihilation Wave marches on in Book Two, challenging three of the Marvel cosmos’ most powerful beings: Silver Surfer, Super Skrull, and Ronan the Accuser (who clearly draws the short end of the alliteration stick). We marvel of the quiet badassitude of the Silver Surfer and the great restraint it takes for a writer to pull off such a mood. We’re wowed by the Super Skrull’s cartoony art that lulls you before its savage finale. Then, lastly, we poop all over Ronan. Yeah, sorry, but it was anti-climactic for us, too.
