218 – The Tick Live Action

"Arthur, Interrupted"

We finish up our series on The Tick with the live action series’ eighth episode, “Arthur, Interrupted.” Or was it the third episode? We talk about this show’s woes and why it might’ve only lasted on season. We also make sure that this episode was very much an allegory for coming out of the closet. Plus, Andy likes to spend money. 217 – The Tick Animated Series

David & Jen take a stroll down Nostalgia lane as we review two episodes of “The Tick” animated series. We watched “The Tick vs. The Tick,” as The Tick fights against a bully with the same superhero name. That’s followed up with “The Little Wooden Boy and the Belly of Love,” which has Arthur falling in love, a marathon sperm whale, and more wacky stuff. We talk about The Tick’s seamless transition to animation and take maybe a little too ling trying to diagnose these characters with psychological disorders. Also, Jen recounts her weekend at her first ever convention: Fanime! For more info on past or future shows, visit www.WelcometoComics.com! Support the show at www.patreon.com/welcometocomics. Next Week: The Live-Action “The Tick” episode, “Arthur, Interrupted.”

216 – The Tick: Sunday Through Wednesday

The Tick Omnibus, Vol. 1: Sunday through Wednesday

We start off our series on The Tick with the omnibus, “Sunday Through Wednesday” by Ben Edlund. We talk about the jokes that hit and missed, our favorite little moments, and those handful of panels where we get a bit more than the comedy routine. We also express a little frustration in trying to objectively analyze funny comics. Plus, we chat a little about DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, the Supergirl teaser, and Netflix’s Daredevil.
